Douglas Clemens

CONSULTANT


Doug has lived and worked in Rotorua since October 1967.


He specialises in commercial and property law, arbitration, trusts and estates. Doug was a partner at O'Sullivan Clemens for over 50 years before transitioning to a consultancy role with the firm in April 2020.


He is a former president of the Rotorua Law Association, a former member of the Council of the New Zealand Law Society and was vice president of the Hamilton & Bay of Plenty Law Society.

Doug is a keen Rotarian, is a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. In his spare time Doug enjoys gardening and the Arts.

QSM

Doug was awarded the Queen's Service Medal for his dedication to protecting and restoring buildings and has worked for more than 40 years to preserve Rotorua's historic buildings. A founding member and former chairman of the Rotorua Heritage and Civic Trust, Doug has worked to save Te Runanga Tearooms in Government Gardens, once derelict and facing demolition but now restored to their former glory and used as a cafe and wedding venue. Doug was also instrumental in restoring The Bath House, in the Rotorua Museum building, to its original 1908 specifications.
